Leasing demand for Moscow street retail space weakened significantly in Q2 2020 as the pandemic forced most retailers to suspend store network planning and expansion. Several brands  announced store closures, optimisation exercises and/or changes to shop networks.

Among the different sectors, luxury demand declined sharply, with most operators suspending all future expansion until at least the end of the year. Demand from pharmacy and grocery chains remained solid but shifted to peripheral districts, particularly locations with guaranteed pedestrian traffic.
